    Alert Free PC Games

Post by Miluaces on 13th October 2009, 7:57 pm

For those who don't like spending I will be putting a list of free video games I come across. Post below if you want me to add anything.
It is all LEGAL!!! (I can't guarantee fun though...)

    Take a look:

    Steam Games:
Half-Life 2: Deathmatch (Deal for those with ATI Cards) (Deal for those with NVidia Cards)
Half-Life 2: Lost Coast (Deal for those with ATI Cards) (Deal for those with NVidia Cards)
    Peggle Extreme
Portal: First Slice (A demo but has a lot of levels)
    America's Army 3
    BattleForge
    Between
Codename Gordon (Can only be gotten from here: steam://install/92)
    COIL
    Mightier
    Peggle Extreme
    Sam & Max: Episode 4
    TrackMania Nations Forever
Left 4 Dead 2 Demo (Contains half of one of the four campaigns and multiplayer. This enough for it to last a while. The AI director helps too!)

    Standalone Games:
    Sauerbraten
Sandbox (Basically Sauerbraten with some upgrades and for kids.)
Narbacular Drop (This basically is Portal, made by the same people.)
SRB2 (I built Hyrule Adventure off this... No comment)
Command And Conquer Gold Edition (Don't worry it is free now!)
Command And Conquer: Red Alert (Don't worry it is free now!)
Phun (A physics game. Build what you want.)
Super Mario War (DM style. Really good game, even allows for custom characters.)
    F.E.A.R. Multiplayer (All free.)
Red Alert: A Path Beyond (A nice free game based off the Renegade engine but is still Stand-Alone.)
Halo: Trial (A demo but the multiplayer could be considered full.)
ASCII Portal (Hi-res game meets hi-res ASCII graphics.)
Grand Theft Auto I (The full game. Unlike its later sequels it is 2D)
    Grand Theft Auto II
(The full game. Unlike its later sequels it is 2D)
Wild Metal (I have not tried it. Don't even know what type of game it is. All I know is it was made by Rockstar Games)
Urban Terror (Multiplayer. A free mod of Quake 3, it does not require Quake 3.)
Tee Worlds (Multiplayer. 2D game with guns.)
    Pocket Tanks (Tank Game)
    Super DX Ball
    Neon Wars

    Mac Games
    Pocket Tanks
    Super DX Ball
    Neon Wars
    Sauerbraten
    Platinum Arts Sandbox

    Cheesy Internet Browser games:
    Websites:
    http://kongregate.com
    http://armorgames.com
    http://ninjakiwi.com
    Games:
    Indestructo Tank
    Electric Man 2HS
    Fancy Pants Adventure
    Dino Run
You Have to Burn the Rope
    Bloons Tower Defence 4

    DOS games:
    Emulators:
    DOSBox (Multi-platform!)
    Games:
    HUGO Series
    Mario VGA (It's a classic!)
    Commander Keen I
Commander Keen IV: Secret of the Oracle
Commander Keen VI: Aliens Ate My Baby Sitter (Demo)
    Commander Keen Dreams[VII] (Incomplete)

    Enjoy!

Man I wish you could have kurelx. It was pretty cool at the time. Wow...it started during my Pentium III days didn't it raluaces? Then when I switched to that Pentium 4 HP laptop with 1GB of RAM(at the time i upgraded it and 1GB was beast imo) it was able to play it with its OpenGL ATI goodness. Now here I stand today with a Mac and NVIDIA 9 series graphics...

I never said it was a beast game. But miluaces stated in another post that he stopped because the coding for the Doom framework was complicated. Think of calculus math. It was akin to that in a way to correlate the difficulty.

Not that it was complicated, because there was no coding. It was just the mapmaking is more of a chore. Very boring.

It was pretty cool then. Look at it now with its non-widescreen low-resolution low-color bit goodness... I can't believe my old computer struggled with this... I am ashamed.

Anyway, I will complete. Maybe it isn't as hard anymore.

This topic has far gone off topic. Let's stay on topic folks. Here's a cool free game that I would like to contribute to this topic: Super Mario War.

I remember that awesome game. I made a super sonic character for it and a shadow one. In fact, the forums are where I found out about SRB2 which is what Hyrule Adventure is made from.

Super Mario War was so great. It was based on the old DOS game called Mario War. Unfortunately I'm not sure it runs on today's PCs but I liked both of them so much that I went on to recreate the Mario War levels for Super Mario War. It was great but alas I lost those sacred files.
